Pt Hedland 26/06 Goodbye Miss Daisy n Seedling

Magnificent landscapes on the Great Northern Highway, it would change from lush greens, vivid reds, to dull greens, rocks piled on top of each other, as if someone just three them there, different ant mounds, these ones where sandy coloured.,  I was able to pass a 4 wagon road train, then a 5 wagon, it was sooo exhilarating, the large train helped me around, my first attempt I only made it a third up the wagon, when I saw on coming lights., When he called me and said I could go now, I said here I come again and thanked him. I felt like I was in a Jack Apsolan painting all flat red dirt, I can see what look like pyramids, some are white some are black, gorgeous gorgeous

Road train ahead

Road train caught up to us when we were having our coffee

I led the way in to Port Hedland, I felt very emotional, my Navman was getting confused with all the new road works. A beautiful young lady Christy, led us to the free camp.,

Mount Robinson

Journey so far

Purple was my Trial Run last year, Green is the journey I'm on now.

Had a good sleep, we left at 9.00am I took the lead, the scenery was stunning, not many places we could safely stop, took great pics of gorgeous rock formations., we pulled up about 38ks up the road at The Mt Robinson free camp., loos, dump point, tables., gorgeous place, we walked up onto Mt Robinson, beautiful flowers, rocks., found the Yellow Ochre that Aborigines paint with, I made a drawing LOL,.

I parked Athena in front of Mt Robinson, Sharon parked Miss Daisy in front of Mt Governor. The gardening told me the big mountain is called Mt Mchenry, its the tallest Mt in WA.

Met a lovely young couple from Italy, they hired a wicked camper trailer, Paulo and Luciana from Tre Viso, Venezia., Quite proud of myself,  spoke a bit of Italian, the funny thing is they actually understood me.... LOL.

Met Jim Gamble an artist, bought a painting of Black Boys nr Jarwood nr Bussleton, reminded me of the ones I saw on my trial run.

Newman still

Last night I was awoken by a thunderous roar, a road train pulled in next to me, red lights all around it.,  I smiled, I like it when they are around.

Today walked around the town, found another big truck,  seen a lot of miners driving there utes with flags, they look like they are remote controlled cars LOL,

The little pebble mound mouse that stopped the mining .

We had lunch at the Red Sands Hotel, no its not beer, its Lemon Lime n bitters in a huge glass, I chose the seafood basket that pointy thing is a garlic n prawn needle YUM!.

Came back to this free camp again, flowers are beautiful, lots of ant mounds, we are surrounded by mountains.

Very emotional day for both of us today, the reality of where we are, how far we have come, has finally set in, tears all round, Sharon is missing her Colin, I'm missing my Sam, what we would give to have them here with us :(

Two caravans pulled in this afternoon, we went and said hello, they are from Sth Aus travelling over to Exmouth.

Tonight I lit the fire, yes "I, I MADE FIRE" LOL
